Located in Zion National Park. It is easily accessed via the parking lot which is located as you exit the tunnel. From the parking lot you drop into the canyon and quickly come upon the first rappel When the canyon has higher levels of water this is an easy drop in. This year there was a bolted anchor. As it turned out this was our hardest rappel Perhaps it looked deceptively simple. In any case we scrapped knuckles and ankles here. Yes it can be down climbed but we were anxious to rappel
The rest of the canyon was great down climbing, and reppelling. Check us out and see how great Pine Creek is. Go to our Pine Creek page to see our pics or visit our blog site.

SuperScout Pine Creek Canyonnering Trip

View our Video of Kolob Canyon.

Kolob canyon is a technical slot canyon with deep rappels. into pools and through waterfalls. The trip down the technical section of the canyon is exciting, beautiful and fun canyoneering.
The hike out of Kolob is slow over slippery rocks, through pools of water, a few small rappels, down climbs and swims. We hiked out through the Narrows and found that the water suddenly disappeared leaving us without enough water for our over night bivouac in Kolob.
The hike out of the Narrows is a long water hike over slippery rocks. Over all an unforgettable trip

Traveling to Utah and other stuff

Pine Creek Canyoneering

Kolob Canyon

The Narrows

The Canyoneering adventure started with a long drive to Utah. Thanks to Alberto (again) we were able to stop in Vegas for a free all you can eat dinner at the Bellagio for 7 of us! THANKS ALBERTO.
Would you believe that when we stopped at Baker on the way to Vegas the temperature was 122 degrees F?!!.
Once again Jamie and Tom were great hostess and let us spend the night at their house upon our arrival Saturday night. Tom even made BBQ hamburgers for us before we left on Sunday..
After church on Sunday we went to Zion got our permits and visit the park. We walked up the narrows to the Mystery waterfall. Watchman was our base camp just inside of the park.
Pine Creek was our first canyoneering experience. This canyon was filled with cold, dirty water; required exciting rappels. It was an adventure to test our rappelling skills and canyon exploring. It was a great start for our canyon experience.
3rd rappel into PineCreek just before the Cathedral.
Dropping down the last rappel to the canyon floor
Looking up at the top of the last rappel
What a GREAT crew sitting in Kolob creek (a human dam) just the day before we descended into Kolob
The first rappel drops you 60 feet into the Kolob canyon.
Just a few of the great rappels you will experience while traveling through Kolob.
This double rappel requires a drop into a pool next to a waterfall (about 12') swim while on the rope through the opening and then another drop. After diving for the rope that sunk to the bottom of the pool Jim drops down the second rap.
The SuperScout crew with the last big Kolob rappel (starts from the top of the waterfall) in the background. Everyone was fantastic canyoneers
Friday we left Zion. Once again the boys decided that they were satisfied and wanted to go home. When they reached consensus we packed and left. No Mystery or mountain biking this year but we did stop for Frozen Custard.
Our motto for the trip was No Tekel. From the scriptures Tekel means to be weighed and found wanting. No Tekel means that we should never settle to be less than we can be. We should always strive to build our skills and talents so that we shall not be judged and found wanting.
Our theme for the trip was to Make it count the first time
