• You must be able to pass the test with an Adult or designee
• You must have experience using the belay and using proper belay techniquies.
• You must pass the rappelling certification

Belay Check Requirements

You must be able to do the following:

1. Attach the belay device
2. Do a safety check for the belayer
   • Check harness to make sure it is buckeled correctly
   • Check that you are clipped into your harness correctly
   • Check that the carabiner is locked
   • Check that the belay device is fed and confgured properly
3. Tie in with a double figure eight knot, followed by a double fisherman's knot.
4. Do a saftey check on the climber
   • Check harness to make sure it is buckled properly
   • Check where the rope is tied into
   • Check figure eight knot
   • Check double fisherman's knot
5. Demonstrate correct communication
   • Climber says, "On Belay"
   • Belayer says; "Belay On"
   • Climber says, Climbing
   • Belayer says, "Belay on"
6. Demonstrate correct belay technique
